Health and Wellness Ministry

ANGEL MINISTRY

There are times members of the parish need a helping hand.  Members of the Angel ministry provide that:

MEALS—For parishioners who have been ill, had surgery or been hospitalized.  It is a small way we can provide support, help out a little and let them know the parish cares.  You would be asked to prepare part of a meal and take it to the person who delivers it.

TRANSPORTATION— We occasionally have parishioners who need a ride to the store, the doctor or church and who cannot drive, either because of illness or injury.  You may either volunteer on a occasional or weekly basis.

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING

Blood pressures are checked by registered nurses the first weekend of the month after Mass.  Nurses are scheduled for the Mass they usually attend and are asked to commit to every month or every other month so adequate consistency can be maintained.  Patient education is also encouraged.

ELIZABETH NEW MOTHER MINISTRY

An outreach to women to share the joys and sorrows of womanhood.  Ministers provide a meal, a gift and a personal visit for all of the families in the parish that have had a baby.  In addition, support is provided for women for many issues such as miscarriages, divorce, marital struggles, adoption, long distance parenting, or grand-parenting.  We don’t provide counseling, only a listening ear and friendship.

GRIEF MINISTRY

Volunteers who are willing to walk with another through the grief process.  Cards (that are provided) are sent to those who are grieving and ministers follow up with an occasional call.

HEALTH & WELLNESS MINISTRY

This group meets the third Thursday of the month to plan activities to promote wellness of mind, body, and spirit for our parishioners. Our belief is that our spiritual, emotional, and physical health can not be separated.   Any parishioner interested in wellness is invited to become a part of this ministry.  You do not need to be a medical professional to participate.

TOBIT MINISTRY

As part of the mission of Parish Nursing to provide support to our parish at all stages of life, Tobit ministers attend the vigils and funerals of members of our parish who have died.  Believing in the power of prayer, and committed to the corporal work of mercy to bury the dead, the ministers attend as a group to pray for the deceased and those grieving.  As a Tobit minister you are notified of the death, asked to call the next person on the calling tree, and attend whatever part of the service you like.
